Keema Matar
Keema Matar is a classic Pakistan dish made from ground beef, peas and spices. It has a very rich and flavorful taste that makes it one of the most popular dishes in Pakistan. The name of the dish comes from two words: “keema” which means minced meat, and “matar” which means green peas. This combination creates a unique flavor that is beloved by many.
This traditional dish can be served as a main course or as part of an array of different dishes at an Pakistan feast. It is commonly cooked with onion, garlic, ginger, tomato puree, garam masala and other spices to give it its signature flavor profile. Traditionally cooked on low heat to ensure all the flavors come together perfectly; this will result in a delicious meal that everyone will love!
Ground beef or lamb are great options when it comes to choosing your meat for keema matar. The meat needs to be fully cooked through before adding the spice mix. To do this, heat some oil in a pan and add the minced meat, breaking it up into small pieces as you go along until it’s all browned nicely. Then add in ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala – all essential ingredients for achieving an authentic flavour!
When serving, try pairing Keema Matar with aromatic basmati rice or warm flatbreads like chapati or naan. The combination of aromas and flavors creates a delightful contrast that will make your meal taste even more amazing. Also a good fresh tangy salad and achar will make it flavour amazing.
For vegetarians, there are plenty of options! Use mushrooms instead of meat and swap out the regular peas for sweet peas or snow peas.
