Rosé Sangria: Think Pink!
This Rosé Sangria gets an extra pop of flavor from some strawberries and a vanilla bean creating a wonderful cocktail you’ll want to make on repeat all summer! It’s the ideal pitcher cocktail when you are serving drinks for a group.
Nothing says summer drink more than a nice chilled glass of Rosé. And since one of my favorite things to do on a warm summer afternoon is to sit on the patio and drink wine with my friends, Rosé has become my drink of choice and it’s truly becoming one of my favorite wines! So, since I’m such a Rosé fan it only seemed natural to come up with a sangria made from it!!
Pink Sangria – The Ultimate Summer Drink
Traditional Spanish Sangria is made from either white or red wine so pink sangria is really a variation on traditional white sangria.
- There is no added sugar in this sangria, so regardless of what type of Rosé you choose, you shouldn’t have to worry about it getting too sweet.
- The strawberries give this sangria a nice light, fruity taste, which makes it excellent for a summer picnic or patio party.
Recipe Ingredients
- Rosé: You’ll need one 750ml bottle. I personally prefer a drier Rosé so that’s what I choose when I make sangria, however, if you like something a little more fruity, that will work too.
- Fruit: The recipe calls for strawberries, lime slices and orange slices but you can experiment a little bit if you like. Peaches can make a nice addition if they are in season.
- Vanilla bean: I recommend using an actual vanilla bean when you make this sangria. The next best option would be vanilla bean paste followed by pure vanilla extract.
- Cointreau
- Club soda: The fizzier the better for this drink!
How to make Rosé sangria
Making sangria is very easy! You need a nice tall pitcher, some fruit, and a bottle of good quality wine.
- Slice the fruit: You want to keep the citrus slices pretty thin. I generally leave the orange slices in half-rounds but you can also cut them in quarters if you like.
- Soak with fruit. Add your oranges, limes, strawberries and vanilla bean to the pitcher. Let them soak in the Cointreau for a few minutes.
- Mix in the wine. Pour in the bottle of Rosé. Use your favorite as you’ll enjoy the sangria best this way. Stir the sangria and chill for at least an hour, up to 4 hours.
- Top with bubbles. Top with sparkling water or club soda before serving. Club soda is the traditional topper used for Spanish sangria. It gives it a nice fizz without adding any additional sugar.
Make Ahead Tip
You can make sangria slightly ahead of time but not more than about 4 hours before you plan on serving it. If you leave it in the refrigerator too long the fruit will get quite soggy. Also, if you make it ahead of time, wait to add the club soda until just before serving.
Frequently Asked Questions
Traditional Spanish sangria is made with red wine, chopped fruit, brandy and soda water. Variations on the tradition are any mix of wine, fruit, other alcohol and sparkling water.
You could but I don’t recommend it. Fresh fruit will hold up better and if your guests want to eat the fruit after they finish their drink, it will taste fresher than if you use frozen fruit.
Recommended Tools
Cocktail skewers – These are nice to have available if you or your guests want to eat the fruit out of the glass.
Glass pitcher – If I’m serving this at a gathering, I generally use a tall glass pitcher as it provides a nice visual impact with the fruit at the bottom.
What goes with sangria?
Well, really just about anything. Sangria is a traditional Spanish drink so I often serve it with small bites. Some ideas for your next al fresco cocktail hour include:
- Balsamic-Glazed Melon, Proscuitto and Mozzarella Skewers
- Roasted Tomato Ricotta Crostini
- Or just create a beautiful cheeseboard

- ½ an orange cut into thin slices
- 1 cup strawberries halved or quartered
- 2 ounces Cointreau
- ½ a vanilla bean

Instructions
-
Soak the fruit. Put fruit in the bottom of a tall pitcher. Add Cointreau and vanilla bean. Let the fruit soak for about 10 minutes.
